What must luxury be if not lux, the human creativity and expertise that lights our way?

We live in an era of images, the age of the all-powerful brand, when the intrinsic value of what we recognise as exceptional objects is taken for granted.Yet thousands of ateliers are disappearing; links in the chain of knowledge are being broken; research is dwindling; at the risk of transforming a country steeped in expertise into an empty shell.

Virtual technologies can pierce an object's "cosmetic" exterior to make non-invasive incursions into its matter. Could this new opportunity to explore living bodies also bring to light the defining characteristics of certain objects? This postulate gave rise to the LuxInside art collective, created to carry out very real research into the hidden qualities of luxury objects.
